What is Gastric Flu
Most often Gastric Flu is referred to as Stomach flu. Yet Gastric flu is not really stomach flu. Gastric flu is a kind of infection in our stomach and intestines. Gastric Flu is caused by various virus. It is definitely a contagious disease.
Once you have been infected with the gastric flu causing viruses, you can then feel the signs of gastric flu after a couple of hours or sometimes it takes about 3 to 6 days.
Despite the fact that gastric flu symptoms vary from person to person, there are still common signs which we have to take note of. Some of these common gastric flu signs and symptoms are as follows.
1. Diarrhea – One of the most common signs and symptoms of gastric flu is diarrhea. Most of the time, diarrhea occurs alone but we can not neglect the fact that there are instances where diarrhea is accompanied with vomiting.
2. Vomiting - Vomiting is the process of forcibly taking out the foods we took into our stomach via our mouth. We vomit because of the gastric virus within our stomach which causes destruction.
3. Abdominal Pain and Nausea -In most cases, where there is gastric flu it is inevitable not to have nausea and abdominal pain.
4. Symptoms similar to common flu -The reason why it is hard to differentiate gastric flu to the common stomach flu if you have not checked your doctor is that in most cases gastric flu has symptoms similar to the common flu. They both have fever, body pain, chills, fatigue as well as headache. The only difference is, Gastric flu doesn’t have any respiratory resemblance of the common flu.
How long will I suffer from Gastric Flu?
Well, although it varies from person to person depending on his/her immune system, care and attention given, proper medications,
proper food taken and the stuff, in average gastric flu lasts on the 5th day. Yet if the situation is severe, it can last longer of course.
